All of the students in our class took part in the school wide writing fair this past winter. The theme this year was “Abracadabra: The Magic of the Pen.” Every student wrote a piece of fiction, nonfiction, and poetry. I choose a winner from each of those categories and they were submitted to our grade level fair. The grade level winners were sent on to the district writing fair. Each winner was recognized in a school wide ceremony where they received a t-shirt and a medal. Congratulations to the following girls from our class!

· Makenzie won 1^st place in poetry in our grade level. She also won 2^nd place in our district fair.

· Alyvia won 1^st place in fiction for our grade level.

We are so proud of our winners!

Honor Roll

Last night we honored the students who made All A’s or A/ B’s for third nine weeks. Ashlyn, Makenzie, Alyvia, Damion, and Myiesha all made A/B's for third nine weeks. Congratulations to them on all of their hard work!

Just a few Reminders...

· Book Fair starts March 13- March 22.
· Water Conservation Poster Projects are due Wednesday, March 14.
· Money for River Center Field Trip is due Friday, March 15. ($10)
· Monday, March 18 is the last day of 3^rd nine weeks.
· Field Trip to River Center is Thursday, March 21. (You must wear your GREEN PCES shirt to go on this trip.)
· Thursday, March 21 is PTO Awards Night. 3^rd grade is at 6p.m.
· Friday, March 22 is the Spring Fling. (Wrist bands are $5 to go. Tickets for food and other things are $0.50 a piece.)
· SPRING BREAK is March 23- March 31!!

Social Studies Power Point Projects

We teamed up with students in Mrs. Taff’s class to work on a social studies project on Russia and culture.

Each group had to make a power point on Russia. Then they had to present the power point presentation to our classes. All of the students in both classes did an amazing job.

Read Across America

Last week, we celebrate Dr. Seuss’s birthday. All week we read some of our favorite Dr. Seuss books. We were all a fan of The Lorax and Hop on Pop. We even watch The Lorax movie and discussed the importance of taking care of our Earth. We began a writing project for the Lorax (more on that to come later!). We ended the week by having a day filled with fun, learning, and even snacks.
