Last Week

We were extremely busy last week! We had the end of first nine weeks, Red Ribbon Week, Blow Up Slide at PE, Parenting day, and Movies as rewards for honor roll and AR; not to mention all of our classroom. The kids enjoyed all of the fun activities.  Here is a look at some pictures from our busy but FUN week!

First Nine Weeks



Wow! Can you believe it? We have completed the first nine weeks of this school year. We are one-fourth of the way through the 2012-2013 school year. What a busy but fun time it has been. The students have worked really hard and have learned a lot. I am very proud of each of them and their accomplishments.  Here are some of the students who have made some special achievements this nine weeks.



All A’s first Nine weeks: Makenzie

Mastered Multiplication Facts 0-5’s: Makhiya and John


Passed 100% of their AR goal First Nine Weeks: Jamari, Myiesha, Marcus, Makhiya, Syan, Dante, Erianna, Damion Alyvia, John, Ashlyn, and Makenzie


 
Earned 6 or more studyisland ribbons this nine weeks: Ashlyn, Makhiya, Makenzie, Alyvia, Dante, John, Damion, Jaevin, and Marcus

Red Ribbon Week!

Red Ribbon Week

Next week is Red Ribbon Week. Below are the activities that we will have for our students to participate in.

Monday, Oct. 22- I’m a “jeanious”.  I am drug-free. (Students wear jeans.)
Tuesday, Oct. 23- “Sock it to drugs.” (Students wear silly socks.)
Wednesday, Oct. 24- “Get T’ed off about drugs.” (Students wear your favorite t-shirt.)
Thursday, Oct. 25- “Put a cap on drugs.” (Students wear a hat.)
Friday, Oct. 26- “Lei off drugs.” (Students can buy a lei at school to wear.)

We will also learn the story behind the Red Ribbon symbol, take the drug free pledge, and participate in a classroom poster decorating contest.

**Also there will be an inflatable Slide at PE on Thursday, October 25th.  The cost of the slide is $2.**

This Week!

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend and are enjoying your day off today!
Don’t forget to read!!

Here are just a few reminders about this week:
·         Lesson 7 Test (Aero and Office Mike) will be Thursday, October 18.
·         We will continue to review our multiplication facts 0-5. We will begin our weekly test again next week with 6’s.
·         Tuesday, October 23 is the last grading period for the first nine weeks.  This is the last day to earn AR points for your first nine weeks goal.
·         Our school is collecting items for local homeless agencies. Some items that you may wish to donate are toothbrushes, comb, brush, Kleenex, lip protection, lotion, pens, soap, toothpaste, hand sanitizer, or toilet paper.  The grade level that brings in the most items by Friday will be given free time.

Multiplication

Our class is working very hard to earn their multiplication scoops. We have already taking the 0-5s facts test in class. (Please remember if you have not passed one, you may retake the test at anytime.)  To earn a multiplication scoops, the students must pass the timed fact test and pass Math Facts in a Flash on the computer. Here are some of the students who have earned their scoops this week!

Due to the holidays this week and next, we will use this time as a review on facts 0-5. We will have our 6’s test on Friday, October 26.

Book Fair

I hope you all had a fabulous fall break. I sure did. It was nice to have a couple of days off to relax and reenergize.

Our school book fair begins tomorrow.  It will run from October 11 to October 22.  Our class day to shop will be on Wednesday, October 17.  However, students are allowed to shop any day during open library time.  You are welcome to come by, look, and shop with your child.

Wow! Can you believe it’s already October?  We have a busy month planned here at PCES. Here are some of the things coming up this month.

October 8 & 9: Fall Break- NO SCHOOL!
October 11: Timeline Projects Due (You should have received a letter by now explaining this exciting project.)
October 15: Student Holiday: NO SCHOOL!
October 23: End of 1st Nine Weeks Grading Period (Last day for this nine weeks AR goal)
October 30: Report Cards
October 31: Halloween

Star Student of the Month

Star Student of the Month
Makenzie

The student voted Makenzie as our star student of the month. They were told to vote for someone who was star worthy. They were told to think of someone from our class who was loyal, fair, kind, and a great friend.  They were told to vote on someone who was a great example of what a third grader should be.
